Generic Xodol

Even though all the patents for the drug have expired, generic Xodol is currently unavailable. This may be because it is too expensive and time-consuming for manufacturers to produce. No other obvious obstacles prevent a generic version from being manufactured; however, at this time, generic Xodol is not expected to become available any time soon.

 

Generic Xodol: An Overview

Xodol™ (hydrocodone/APAP) is a prescription pain medication. It contains two different medications: hydrocodone (a narcotic) and acetaminophen (Tylenol®, also known as APAP). It is usually used to treat short-term pain, such as after an injury or surgery, although sometimes it is used for chronic pain.
 
Xodol was first developed by Teamm Pharmaceuticals and Accentia BioPharmaceuticals, and was manufactured by Mikart Pharmaceuticals. Currently, it is made by Victory Pharma. No generic forms of Xodol are available.
 

When Will Generic Xodol Be Available?

This is a difficult question to answer. There are no unexpired patents for the drug that would prevent another company from making a generic version of Xodol. However, no companies have chosen to do so. Perhaps Xodol is not profitable enough for a generic manufacturer to go through the time and expense necessary to make the medication. At this time, it is not known when (or even if) generic Xodol may become available.
