Voltaren-XR Drug Interactions

Voltaren-XR drug interactions can sometimes increase the levels of certain drugs in your body, change the way your body metabolizes the drugs, and increase your risk of bleeding, among other things. Drugs that Voltaren-XR can potentially interact with include lithium, warfarin, and ACE inhibitors. If Voltaren-XR drug interactions are a concern, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely or adjust your dosages of the drugs.

Voltaren-XR Drug Interactions: An Overview

Voltaren®-XR (diclofenac sodium extended-release) can potentially interact with a number of medicines. Some of the medications that may lead to Voltaren-XR drug interactions include:
 
 
  • Anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs, such as:
     
    • Aspirin (Bayer® and others)
    • Cilostazol (Pletal®)
    • Clopidogrel (Plavix®)
    • Dipyridamole (Persantine®)
    • Eptifibatide (Integrilin®)
    •  Heparin or heparin-like products, including dalteparin (Fragmin®), enoxaparin (Lovenox®), or tinzaparin (Innohep®)
    • Other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithobid®)
  • Methotrexate (Rheumatrex®, Trexall™).
      
Several herbal and nutritional supplements can also interact with Voltaren-XR and may increase the risk of bleeding. Examples of these include but are not limited to:
