Voltaren-XR Dosage

The recommended Voltaren-XR dosage for relieving symptoms of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis is 100 mg a day. However, your exact dose will depend on other medications you are currently taking and other medical conditions you may have. It's best to take the lowest Voltaren-XR dosage for the least amount of time in order to reduce the chances of side effects.

 

Voltaren-XR Dosage: An Introduction

The recommended dose of Voltaren®-XR (diclofenac sodium extended-release) for the relief of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis is typically 100 mg a day. However, the Voltaren-XR dosage your healthcare provider recommends, as well as how often it is taken, may vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • The medical condition you are being treated for
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be currently taking.
     
As always, do not adjust your Voltaren-XR dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
 

General Voltaren-XR Dosage Information

Considerations for people taking Voltaren-XR include the following:
 
  • Your Voltaren-XR dosage should be taken with a glass of water. Taking it with milk or food may prevent upset stomach.
 
  • Do not break, chew, or crush the Voltaren-XR tablets.
 
  • Voltaren-XR should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.
     
  • It is important to take the lowest effective dose for the least amount of time in order to treat your condition. This will decrease the chances of serious side effects occurring.
     
  • For Voltaren-XR to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Voltaren-XR will not work if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider recommends. It may take several weeks for the full effects of Voltaren-XR to be felt.
     
  • If you do not take your Voltaren-XR as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing. Do not take double the dose at one time or combine your Voltaren-XR dosage with other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to Voltaren-XR or your Voltaren-XR dosage, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Voltaren-XR without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
