Who Should Not Take Vistaril?

You should not take Vistaril if you are:
 
  • Allergic to Vistaril, hydroxyzine, or any of the inactive components used to make Vistaril. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • In the early stages of pregnancy (see Hydroxyzine and Pregnancy).
     

Final Thoughts

There are a number of situations in which Vistaril should not be taken, along with several warnings people should be aware of before taking the medication. However, it is possible that not all of Vistaril's warnings or precautions were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the specific issues that may apply to you.
