Tramadol Withdrawal Symptom Duration

If you abruptly stop taking tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram®), withdrawal symptoms may occur. It is difficult to predict how long a person might experience tramadol withdrawal. The duration of symptoms will vary based on several factors, such as the tramadol dosage, how long you have been taking the medication, and other factors. Often, people cannot tolerate the withdrawal symptoms and begin taking tramadol again, making it impossible to know how long the symptoms would have lasted.

Withdrawal symptoms are expected to last longer (but be less severe) for people who do not clear tramadol from the body as quickly as normal, such as people with liver or kidney disease or the elderly. Some symptoms probably have a shorter duration (but are more intense) for healthy, young people.
