Drug Interactions With Sumatriptan/Naproxen Sodium

A number of medicines may cause drug interactions with sumatriptan/naproxen sodium, including ACE inhibitors, methotrexate, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and SSRI or SNRI antidepressants. These negative sumatriptan/naproxen sodium interactions can reduce the effectiveness of the medications or increase your risk of developing dangerous side effects, such as internal bleeding, kidney problems, and serotonin syndrome.

 

An Introduction to Sumatriptan/Naproxen Sodium Drug Interactions

Sumatriptan/naproxen sodium (Treximet™) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to sumatriptan/naproxen sodium interactions include:
 
  • ACE inhibitors, including:

 

 

  • Aspirin (Bayer® and others)
     
  • Diuretics, such as:

 

 

  • Ergot medications, such as:

 

    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)

 

  • Lithium (Eskalith®, Lithobid®)
     
  • Methotrexate (Rheumatrex®, Trexall™)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI inhibitors), including:

 

 

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
