Drug Interactions With Sumatriptan/Naproxen Sodium

Ergot Medications
Taking sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with ergot medications can increase your risk of dangerous side effects. Do not take sumatriptan/naproxen sodium and ergot medications within 24 hours of each other.
 
Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid)
The naproxen in sumatriptan/naproxen sodium can increase the level of lithium in your blood, increasing your risk of lithium toxicity. Do not combine sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with lithium without your healthcare provider's approval and supervision.
 
Methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall)
The naproxen in sumatriptan/naproxen sodium can increase the level of methotrexate in your blood, increasing your risk of serious methotrexate side effects. Do not combine sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with methotrexate without your healthcare provider's approval and supervision.
 
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Sumatriptan/naproxen sodium contains an NSAID medication (naproxen). Taking more than one NSAID at a time can increase your risk of side effects, such as dangerous internal bleeding.
 
Probenecid
Probenecid can increase the level of the naproxen component of sumatriptan/naproxen sodium in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Triptans
Taking sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with other triptans can increase your risk of serous side effects. These medications should not be taken within 24 hours of each other.
 
Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
In general, it is not recommended to take sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with warfarin. Both warfarin and naproxen can increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. Check with your healthcare provider before combining sumatriptan/naproxen sodium with warfarin.
