Savella Tablets

Savella™ (milnacipran hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat fibromyalgia pain in adults (age 17 and older).

The drug comes in tablet form. It is taken by mouth, usually twice a day. Savella tablets are available in the following strengths:

  • Savella 12.5 mg
  • Savella 25 mg
  • Savella 50 mg
  • Savella 100 mg.

Savella is part of a group of medications called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, or SNRIs for short. This means that the tablets work in the brain by affecting certain brain chemicals called serotonin and norepinephrine.

People generally start with a low dose, which is then slowly increased. Do not stop taking Savella suddenly, as this could lead to withdrawal symptoms. If you need to stop taking the medication, be sure to work closely with your healthcare provider to determine a schedule for gradually decreasing your dosage.
