Savella Drug Information

Savella® (milnacipran hydrochloride) is a prescription drug used to treat fibromyalgia. It is currently available in brand-name form only. This medicine comes in the form of a tablet and is usually taken twice a day. Although Savella is not a cure for fibromyalgia, the drug can help decrease pain and improve physical functioning.
 
Before starting treatment with this medication, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications, including nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and supplements. Also, you may not be able to safely use Savella if you have certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy, liver disease, or a bleeding disorder.
 
Most people tolerate this medication well. If side effects do occur, they are generally mild and are easily treated. Some of the common side effects reported with Savella include constipation, nausea, and dizziness.
