The standard recommended dose of
Savella™ (
milnacipran hydrochloride) for treating
fibromyalgia is 50 mg tablets, taken twice daily. People generally start with a low dose (12.5 mg once daily), which is then slowly increased over the span of a week to 50 mg taken twice daily. However, your exact dosage will be based on factors such as how you respond to Savella, other medications you are taking, and other medical conditions you may have.
If necessary, your healthcare provider may increase your dose up to 100 mg twice daily, if Savella 50 mg twice daily is not sufficient to relieve your
fibromyalgia symptoms. People with kidney disease (such as kidney failure) may need to take a lower dosage.
Do not stop taking Savella suddenly, as this could lead to withdrawal symptoms. If you need to stop taking the medication, be sure to work closely with your healthcare provider to determine a schedule for gradually decreasing your dose.
