Savella 25 mg Tablets

Fibromyalgia can often be treated with Savella® (milnacipran hydrochloride), a medication that affects certain chemicals in the brain. The drug is generally started at a low dose and then slowly increased. For example, the standard recommended dose of Savella is as follows:
  • Day 1 -- 12.5 mg Savella tablets once daily
  • Days 2 and 3 -- 12.5 mg Savella tablets twice daily
  • Days 4 through 7 -- 25 mg Savella tablets twice daily
  • Day 7 and beyond -- 50 mg Savella tablets twice daily.
However, your exact dosage will be based on several factors, such as how you respond to Savella, other medications you are taking, and other medical conditions you may have. Do not stop taking the drug suddenly, as this could lead to withdrawal symptoms. If you need to stop treatment, be sure to work closely with your healthcare provider to determine a schedule for gradually decreasing your dosage.
