Relafen Drug Class

Relafen® (nabumetone) is a prescription pain medicine used to treat symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Although it can help relieve pain, stiffness, swelling, and inflammation due to these conditions, this drug is not a cure for these types of arthritis, nor can it slow down the progression of the disease.

Relafen belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (or NSAIDs), and works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. It is only approved for use in adults, and can sometimes be used off-label to treat other conditions, such as fibromyalgia, gout, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
