Relafen and Children

If you have pain, stiffness, or inflammation caused by certain types of arthritis, you may benefit from Relafen® (nabumetone). This medication is available in tablet form and is only available with a prescription.

This drug is not approved for use in children. Relafen, however, may sometimes be prescribed "off-label" to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis symptoms.

As a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), Relafen works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, this medicine can help alleviate pain, inflammation, and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis.
