Relafen (Nabumetone) Pain Medicine

If you have osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, a healthcare provider may recommend Relafen® (nabumetone). This pain medicine is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and works to reduce pain, stiffness, swelling, and inflammation caused by these types of arthritis. This medication is not a cure for these conditions, however, nor can it slow down the progression of the disease.
Relafen comes in the form of a tablet and is available in two strengths. Although most people tolerate it well, this medicine is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects include headaches, constipation, and nausea.
Before taking Relafen, tell your healthcare provider if you have any other medical problems, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Also, to avoid potentially negative drug interactions, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking, including nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
