Oramorph SR Drug Information

When a strong painkiller is needed for an extended period of time or around-the-clock use, a healthcare provider may prescribe a medication called Oramorph® SR (morphine sulfate ER). This product comes as an extended-release tablet and is taken two or three times a day. Because this medicine contains morphine, there is a high potential for abuse and it should be stored in a safe place. Commonly reported side effects include constipation, nausea, and drowsiness.

Prior to beginning treatment with Oramorph SR, inform your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have and any other drugs you are taking. People with gallbladder disease, for example, or those with a history of alcohol dependence may require more careful monitoring.
