Nucynta Medication Information

A prescription pain reliever, Nucynta™ (tapentadol) is the first new molecule for pain relief to be developed within the past 25 years. It is approved to treat moderate-to-severe acute pain. For example, it may be used to treat:
 
  • Surgical pain
  • Dental pain after a painful procedure
  • Sports injury pain.
 
Nucynta is a narcotic and is classified as a "controlled substance" in the United States. This medication comes in tablet form and is typically taken every four to six hours.
 
To ensure your safety with Nucynta, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you may have (including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not drink alcohol while taking this drug.
