OxyContin® (oxycodone ER) is a narcotic medication often prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. By binding to opioid receptors throughout the body, it produces numerous effects, including pain relief and cough suppression. It comes in the form of extended-release tablets and is available in eight different strengths. Although many people tolerate this medicine well, side effects are possible. Potential side effects include dizziness, nausea, constipation, and drowsiness.
