OxyContin Uses

OxyContin Use in Children

OxyContin is not approved for use in children. However, this does not mean that it cannot be used in children. Be sure to discuss the benefits and risks of using OxyContin in children with your child's healthcare provider. Keep in mind that the available strengths of OxyContin may be too high for children and that the tablets cannot be broken, crushed, chewed, or dissolved.

Off-Label Uses for OxyContin

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend OxyContin for something other than the uses discussed previously in this article (this would be known as an "off-label" use). Taking OxyContin three times daily (instead of the officially recommended twice daily dosage) is a common off-label use of the drug.
