Norco® (hydrocodone/APAP) is a prescription medication approved to relieve moderate-to-moderately severe pain. It contains two different drugs: hydrocodone is a narcotic, and APAP is another name for acetaminophen. Both products work together to reduce pain. Norco comes in tablet form and is generally taken every four to six hours, as needed, for pain.
As you might guess, because it contains a narcotic, this medicine does carry the potential for abuse. It is especially desirable as a drug of abuse because of the low acetaminophen content. For that reason, if your healthcare provider is considering prescribing this medication, information on any problems with alcohol or drug abuse that you have had in the past will help him or her determine if Norco is truly the best drug for you.
(Click Norco for more information on this medication, including exactly how it works, important safety precautions and warnings, possible side effects, and what to do in cases of overdose.)
