Drug Interactions With Naprosyn (Cont.)

More Detail About Interactions With Naprosyn

Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
If you are taking blood thinners, such as warfarin, while taking Naprosyn, your body may metabolize them differently than intended. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR and prothrombin time more frequently and adjust accordingly. INR and prothrombin time are tests used to measure how well you blood is clotting.

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Using these pain relievers with Naprosyn can increase the risk of bleeding. Acetaminophen (Tylenol®) products can be safely used.

Aspirin
Studies have indicated that the chances of developing stomach ulcers are higher when aspirin and Naprosyn are combined. For your particular situation, talk with your healthcare provider about using aspirin and Naprosyn together.

ACE Inhibitors (Accupril, Lotensin, Vasotec, Altace, Zestril, Prinivil, Monopril, Capoten)
Naprosyn may inhibit the blood pressure-lowering effects of ACE inhibitors. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.

Diuretics (Torsemide [Demadex], Furosemide [Lasix], Hydrochlorothiazide)
Naprosyn may reduce the activity of diuretics. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.

Lithium (Eskalith, Lithane, Lithonate, Lithotabs)
Taking Naprosyn and lithium together may increase the levels of lithium in your body by decreasing the removal of lithium by the kidneys. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs and monitor the level of lithium in your blood.

Methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall)
If you are taking both methotrexate and Naprosyn, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
