Motrin Medication for Pain

Motrin® (ibuprofen) is a medicine used to treat mild to moderate pain, inflammation, fever, and stiffness. This medication is available in prescription and nonprescription strengths. It comes in the form of tablets, caplets, and oral suspension products. It can be used by itself or combined with other medications in several common cold, flu, and sinus products.

As a pain medication, Motrin is in a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the action of certain hormones in the body that cause inflammation and pain.

Although most people tolerate Motrin well, it is not suitable for everyone. Make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medicines you are taking (including vitamins and nonprescription drugs), as well as any other medical conditions you may have. Possible side effects include heartburn, nausea, and dizziness.
