Motrin Drug Class

Motrin® (ibuprofen) is a medication that is available with or without a prescription. Specifically, this medication is effective for:
  • Reducing pain related to bone, muscle, or tendon injury or inflammation
  • Reducing fever
  • Alleviating pain and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis and other conditions.
Motrin belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These medications work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones, called prostaglandins, that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
