Motrin 400 Mg

If you are looking for the 400-mg strength of Motrin® (ibuprofen), it's important to know that this particular strength is only available with a prescription. Lower strengths of Motrin are available in various forms and do not require a prescription.

Although the recommended nonprescription dose for most people over 12 years of age is Motrin 200 mg taken by mouth every four to six hours as needed, a healthcare provider may recommend a higher dosage based on various factors. Some of these factors can include the condition being treated, the particular Motrin product being used, and other medications you are taking.

For example, when using this drug for treating rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, a healthcare provider may prescribe Motrin 400 mg three or four times daily. If pain is still present after several weeks, your healthcare provider may increase the daily dose up to a maximum of Motrin 3200 mg.
