Meloxicam Medication for Pain

Available only by prescription, meloxicam (Mobic®) is a medication used for treating pain, inflammation, swelling, and/or stiffness. It comes in tablet or liquid form and is approved for treating the symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
As a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (or NSAID), meloxicam works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
As with any medicine, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, some of the most common side effects seen with meloxicam included diarrhea, nausea, and headaches.
This drug is not suitable for everyone. Before taking meloxicam, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications or have heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
