Meloxicam and Children

If you have pain, swelling, or inflammation caused by certain types of arthritis, you may benefit from meloxicam (Mobic®). This medication is available in liquid and tablet form and is only available with a prescription.

It is approved for treating osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults, as well as for treating juvenile arthritis in children. When treating juvenile arthritis symptoms in children, meloxicam should not be used in children younger than two years old.

As a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), meloxicam works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, meloxicam can help alleviate pain, inflammation, and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis.
