The manufacturer of Vicodin maintains that the product is a branded generic (a generic product with a brand name), although the product is significantly more expensive than generic hydrocodone/APAP products. Some insurance companies may cover the drug with a generic copay, while others may consider it to be brand-name product and may give it a higher copay or may not cover it at all.
