Tapentadol ER is a medication prescribed for treating moderate-to-severe chronic pain in people who require around-the-clock pain relief. It is also approved for nerve pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The medication comes in the form of extended-release tablets, and is taken every 12 hours. Because it is similar to morphine, it has the potential for dependence and abuse. Possible side effects include constipation, nausea, and dizziness.
