Pain Home > Talwin Nx Uses

Is It Safe for Children to Use Talwin Nx?

Talwin Nx is approved for use in children age 12 and older. It is not approved for use in children younger than 12 years old, as it has not been adequately studied in this age group. Talk to your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using this medication in children.

Can Older Adults Use It?

Older adults can use Talwin Nx. However, some experts recommend that this drug not be used in older adults, due to the risk for confusion, hallucinations, and other central nervous system side effects. If a narcotic pain medication is necessary, other medications may be preferred for older adults.

Off-Label Uses for Talwin Nx

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medicine for something other than pain. This is known as an "off-label" use. For example, Talwin Nx may be prescribed off-label to treat mild pain.
