A number of medications may interact with Talacen. For example, problems may occur if the pain reliever is combined with alcohol, anticholinergic medications, or medications that cause drowsiness, among other products. These reactions with Talacen could increase your risk for serious and potentially dangerous complications, such as liver damage, memory loss, and extreme drowsiness.

An Overview of Interactions With Talacen

Talacen® (acetaminophen and pentazocine) may react with a number of other products. Some of the drugs that can interact with Talacen include but are not limited to:
  • Azelastine nasal spray (Astelin®, Astepro®)
  • Barbiturates, such as:
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
  • Certain tobacco products.
