Pain Home > Rybix ODT Dosage

In most cases, a person will start with a low dosage of Rybix ODT, such as 50 mg a day, adding another 50 mg every three days until the ideal dosage has been reached. Starting at a higher strength may sometimes be necessary for rapid pain relief, but this does increase the risk of side effects. This medication should not be taken with alcohol.

An Introduction to Dosing With Rybix ODT

This medication is no longer available, as it has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Other tramadol products are still available.
The dose of Rybix™ ODT (orally disintegrating tramadol) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
  • The type and dose of other painkillers you have taken
  • The severity of your pain
  • How you respond to Rybix ODT
  • Other medications you are taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Rybix ODT Dosage for Pain

Most people are advised to start with a low Rybix ODT dose, such as 50 mg once daily. Every three days, another 50-mg dose can be added until you are taking 50 mg four times a day. At that point, your healthcare provider may recommend taking 50 to 100 mg every four to six hours as needed, not to exceed 400 mg total per day.
In some situations when rapid pain relief is necessary, your healthcare provider might recommend starting with the full Rybix ODT dosage (50 to 100 mg every four to six hours as needed for pain, up to a maximum of 400 mg total per day). However, be aware that starting with the full amount increases your risk for bothersome or intolerable Rybix ODT side effects.
