Pain Home > Pregabalin (Lyrica) Drug Information
Based on the information gathered in clinical trials, the prescription drug pregabalin (Lyrica®) appears to be an effective treatment for nerve pain, epilepsy, and fibromyalgia. The medication comes in capsule form and is typically taken two or three times a day. Common side effects include drowsiness, weight gain, and dizziness. However, most people tolerate it well.
Though generally safe and effective, pregabalin is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment, let your healthcare provider know if you have:
- A history of drug or alcohol abuse
- Kidney disease, including kidney failure (renal failure)
- Heart disease, especially congestive heart failure (CHF).
