What Does Lortab Treat?

Lortab is a drug that is available by prescription only. Many people may wonder, "What does it treat?" Lortab® (hydrocodone/APAP) may be prescribed if you have moderate to moderately severe pain. This medicine is approved for adults and children as young as two years old, and is typically taken every four to six hours as needed for pain.

Specifically, Lortab is commonly used for short-term pain due to an injury, surgery, or dental procedure. Occasionally, it is used to treat chronic pain, migraines, cancer pain, or other types of recurring, long-term conditions that cause pain. However, it is often used (or rather, abused) inappropriately, as it contains a narcotic medication.

There are also some possible uses of Lortab that are not technically approved. Some of these "off-label" uses include treating coughing and insomnia. However, these off-label uses are not considered legitimate by most healthcare professionals, as there are more appropriate medications available to treat such conditions.
