Lortab Pain Killers

Lortab® (hydrocodone/APAP) is a medicine approved to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. This medication is approved for adults and children as young as two years old, and is typically taken every four to six hours as needed for pain. As a prescription pain killer, Lortab contains two different drugs, hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic narcotic, opioid pain killer. It acts similarly to codeine and is effective at decreasing pain and relieving coughing. The acetaminophen component of the product is a pain killer and fever reducer. Combining hydrocodone with acetaminophen helps improve the effectiveness of acetaminophen at relieving pain and may limit the abuse potential of hydrocodone (the maximum dose of Lortab is limited by the acetaminophen content).
Although most people tolerate Lortab well, it is not suitable for everyone. Make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and non-prescription medicines), as well as any other medical conditions you may have before starting treatment with Lortab.
