Lortab Indications

Some of the indications for Lortab® (hydrocodone/APAP) include treating moderate to moderately severe pain. This prescription medication is approved for use in adults and children as young as two years old.

Specifically, Lortab is commonly used to treat short-term pain due to an injury, surgery, or dental procedure. Occasionally, it is used to treat chronic pain, migraines, cancer pain, or other types of recurring, long-term conditions that cause pain. It is often used (or rather, abused) inappropriately, as it contains a narcotic medication.

There are also some possible uses of Lortab that are not technically approved, but a healthcare provider may still prescribe the medication for these uses. Some of these off-label uses include treating coughing and insomnia. However, these off-label uses are not considered legitimate by most healthcare professionals, as there are more appropriate medications available to treat such conditions.
