If you have moderate to moderately severe pain, a healthcare provider may prescribe
Lortab® (
hydrocodone/APAP) 7.5/500 tablets. However, your healthcare provider will consider several factors before recommending a Lortab dosage. Some of these factors include how you respond to Lortab, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
When using the 7.5/500
Lortab tablets, the recommended dosage is one tablet every four to six hours as needed for pain, but not to exceed six tablets in 24 hours. It is best to take your dosage with food, as this may help reduce stomach upset.
The maximum recommended Lortab dosages are designed to limit the total dose of
acetaminophen to 4 grams (4000 mg) a day or less. Higher doses of acetaminophen increase the risk of serious liver damage. Therefore, make sure to watch for any other sources of acetaminophen, including other prescription pain relievers and many over-the-counter products, such as
Tylenol®.
