Even though surgeries are kept clean, you might get an infection
after a laparoscopy for endometriosis. Infections can be simple or serious. How the infection is taken care of will depend on where it is in your body and how bad it is.
Some infections, such as skin infections, are simple, and you will only need to take antibiotics for them. Other infections, such as those inside your body, are more dangerous than infections outside your body. Serious infections do not happen often, but if they do, you might need to stay in the hospital and get medicine through an IV. You may also need additional surgery. Sometimes, these infections can be life-threatening.
If you get an infection, your doctor will talk to you about the best way to heal it.
