During surgery with the laparoscopic camera, the doctor must put air into the abdomen (stomach). The air helps the doctor see all the organs inside.
A problem could develop if air goes into another part of your abdomen, such as the layers of skin that hold your abdomen in. Usually the doctor can see this right away and fix it. However, if too much air goes in the wrong place, your doctor may have to stop the
laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis and do it later.
Another reason to stop the surgery is if the air gets into the bowels or another organ. This is rare, but can be dangerous or even life-threatening.
