Incisional Hernia After a Laparoscopy for Endometriosis

When a laparoscopic camera is used in a surgery, some people can get an incisional hernia. This is when the layer of tissue, called fascia, that holds in your abdomen (stomach) does not heal all the way. This usually heals on its own. Sometimes, a part of your intestines will come through where the layer is not healed together. If this happens, you might need surgery to put the intestine back in the right place and fix the hernia. In extremely rare cases, you might need to have a piece of the intestine taken out.
