Ketamine and Seizures

Ketamine hydrochloride (Ketalar®) is an anesthetic prescribed for use before certain medical procedures. Although most people tolerate ketamine well, it is possible to develop side effects with this drug.

Although most of the reactions to ketamine tend to be minor and easy to treat, there are potentially serious complications this drug may cause. For example, this drug has been reported to cause rigid muscles or muscle contractions that can result in abnormal movements that resemble seizures.
