What is Feldene used for? Feldene relieves pain, inflammation, and stiffness caused by a number of conditions, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. However, Feldene does not cure or slow the progression of these conditions. A few off-label Feldene uses include treating symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome, juvenile arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Feldene® (piroxicam) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to pain, inflammation, swelling, and stiffness.

Feldene is not a cure for the types of arthritis mentioned above, nor does it slow the progression of the disease.
 

How Does Feldene Work?

Feldene and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins. By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, Feldene can help alleviate pain, inflammation, and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis.

Feldene is not approved for use in children.
