Feldene Side Effects

Common side effects of Feldene include headache, nausea, and an ulcer in the stomach or intestines. Uncommon side effects include fainting, depression, and high blood pressure. Some potentially serious side effects that require emergency medical attention include chest pain and shortness of breath. These symptoms could indicate a potentially life-threatening event like a stroke or heart attack.

Feldene Side Effects: An Introduction

As with any medicine, side effects can occur with Feldene® (piroxicam); but not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it well. If side effects do occur, in many cases, they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Feldene. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Feldene side effects with you.)

Common Side Effects of Feldene

Feldene has been studied extensively in clinical trials, with thousands of people worldwide having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they occurred, and how they compare to the people not taking the drug.

Based on these studies, the most common Feldene side effects included:

  • Heartburn or indigestion (dyspepsia)
  • Swelling
  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Elevated liver enzymes
  • Gas
  • Unexplained bleeding
  • Ulcer in the stomach or intestines (peptic ulcer)
  • Anemia

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Tiredness or weakness
