Embeda Warnings and Precautions

Who Should Not Take Embeda?

You should not take Embeda if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Embeda, morphine sulfate, naltrexone hydrochloride, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients. If you are allergic to other narcotics or opiates, you may also be allergic to Embeda.
     
  • Have significant respiratory depression (slow or ineffective breathing due to a variety of causes) in unmonitored situations without resuscitation equipment.
     
  • Have severe asthma in unmonitored situations without resuscitation equipment.
     
  • Have a bowel obstruction (paralytic ileus).

There are a number of situations in which this drug should not be taken, as well as several safety issues people should be aware of before starting it.
