Diflunisal Dosing (Cont.)

General Information on Diflunisal Dosing

Considerations for people taking diflunisal include the following:

  • Your diflunisal dosage should be taken by mouth with food and a full glass of water.

  • Do not break, chew, or crush the diflunisal tablets.

  • It is important to take the lowest effective dose for the least amount of time in order to treat your condition. This will decrease the chances of serious side effects occurring.

  • For diflunisal to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Diflunisal will not work if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider recommends.

  • If you do not take your diflunisal as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing. Do not take double the dose at one time or take it with other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

  • If you are unsure about anything related to diflunisal dosing, talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking diflunisal without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
