Precautions and Warnings With Diclofenac Potassium

There are many precautions and warnings with diclofenac potassium to be aware of. For example, diclofenac potassium can cause high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, kidney or liver damage, or stomach or intestinal problems in some people. There are also certain people who should avoid taking diclofenac potassium, including those with an active bleeding condition, those who have recently had coronary bypass graft surgery, and those who are in the third trimester of pregnancy.

 

Diclofenac Potassium: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking diclofenac potassium (Cataflam®) if you have:
 
Also let your healthcare provider know if you:
 
  • Are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Smoke
  • Drink alcohol frequently
  • Have recently had heart surgery.
     
Also, tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you may be currently taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
