Darvocet Drug Interactions

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
As mentioned previously, combining Darvocet with antidepressants (including MAOIs) can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Due to the high risk of this problem with MAOIs, it is usually recommended to avoid combining Darvocet with an MAOI.
Other Acetaminophen Products
When taking Darvocet, you should be careful to limit your total daily dose of acetaminophen (from all sources combined) to no more than 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. The acetaminophen content of Darvocet varies depending on the strength, ranging from 325 mg to 650 mg per tablet. Taking too much acetaminophen could lead to serious liver damage or even death.
Watch for any other sources of acetaminophen, including other prescription pain relievers and many over-the-counter products, such as Tylenol®. To be safe, all other acetaminophen products should be avoided while you are taking Darvocet, unless you are extremely careful to limit your total acetaminophen use (from all sources added together) to 4 grams per day.
There have been reports of a possible interaction between Darvocet and warfarin. This interaction might increase your risk of bleeding. Check with your healthcare provider before combining these medications; you may need to be monitored more closely.
