Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride (Flexeril®) is a type of muscle relaxant that can relieve muscle spasms that are due to injuries or other muscle problems. While it is not clear as to how exactly the medicine works, it is known that cyclobenzaprine mostly works in the brain stem, not in the spinal cord and not directly on the muscles.
 
This medication is not suitable for everyone. A few of the conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before taking the medication include liver disease, glaucoma, and an irregular heart rhythm. Possible side effects may include fatigue, dizziness, and a dry mouth.
