Clinoril is typically used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain associated with various forms of arthritis and other painful conditions. It inhibits the action of certain hormones that cause pain and inflammation in the body, which makes it effective in reducing fever and alleviating pain, inflammation, and joint swelling. Clinoril comes in a tablet form and is available in several strengths.
Clinoril is in a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or
NSAIDs for short.
Clinoril is manufactured by Merck & Co., Inc.
Clinoril and other NSAIDs are thought to work by inhibiting the action of certain hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. These hormones are called prostaglandins.
By blocking the effects of prostaglandins, Clinoril is useful at reducing pain related to bone, muscle, or tendon injury or inflammation; reducing fever; and alleviating pain and joint swelling associated with different forms of
arthritis and other conditions.
