Carisoprodol (Soma®) is a medication approved to relieve discomfort caused by muscle spasms. This prescription muscle relaxant has the potential to be abused, and should be used with caution by people who have a tendency toward alcohol or drug abuse. Although most people tolerate carisoprodol well, it is not suitable for everyone. Before taking it, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have, as well as any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
