Carisoprodol (Soma®) is a medication licensed for the short-term treatment of muscle spasms caused by an injury or other muscle problems. This prescription muscle relaxant comes in the form of a tablet and is typically taken three times a day and at bedtime. Possible side effects include headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness. Carisoprodol should not be taken for more than two or three weeks, as it has the potential to be abused.
