Avinza® (morphine sulfate ER) is a medication approved for the treatment of chronic, moderate to severe pain. It is a type of narcotic that provides pain relief by binding to opioid receptors throughout the body. Avinza capsules, which are available by prescription only, contain tiny extended-release beads that are specially designed to release morphine evenly throughout the day, allowing for once-daily dosing. Common side effects reported with this drug include drowsiness, nausea, and constipation.
